Senior Software Engineer

Location: Sandton, Johannesburg

Job Purpose

  • To implement, guided by the technical delivery roadmap
  • To manage the workload of Intermediate / Junior developers
  • To provide guidance on technical / support issues (escalation route)
  • To liaise with users regarding feature requests
  • To ensure compliance with coding guidelines
  • To ensure quality of product delivery
  • Responsibilities, Activities and Key Deliverables

    Product Environment
  • Features released on schedule
  • Assist in roadmap creation
  • Support Environment
  • Escalation route when Support Developers are stuck
  • Assist in supporting product partners
  • Testing Environment
  • Unit tests up to date
  • Ensure turnaround (via testers)
  • Team Quality Assurance
  • All code produced within team is aligned with defined quality and technical standards
  • Development & Build Environments
  • In-depth understanding of C# development and build environments
  • In-depth understanding of the applied branching strategy and adhering to it
  • Assist team in setup and troubleshooting
  • Suggest latest / improved ways of implementation
  • Good understanding of the client platforms to be supported
  • Architectural Concepts
  • In-depth understanding of Object Orientation
  • Set standard of concept usage for team
  • Development Languages
  • Expert knowledge of relevant technology stack e.g. C#, Angular etc
  • Expert knowledge of the .NET Framework incl. versioning
  • Good knowledge of SQL and its Management Studio
  • Familiar with supporting tools e.g. Resharper and their value add
  • Test Driven Development
  • Articulate value add to get buy in from team and management
  • Produce timelines cognisant of extra time required
  • Agile Concepts & Relevant Artifacts
  • Familiar with latest concepts
  • Application of process and artefacts where beneficial to product
  • Job Specific Qualifications and Experience

    Qualifications
  • IT related degree / diploma required
  • Project Management beneficial
  • Experience
  • At least 8 years in technical IT environment
  • Experience in doing software development
  • Experience in software product development
